LiPo batteries are normally preferred for thin, lightweight or special-shaped devices. Cylindrical Li-ion batteries are suitable for higher-capacity and industrial battery packs. LiFePO₄ batteries are recommended when long cycle life and thermal stability are important. Primary lithium batteries are suitable for long standby applications that do not require recharging.
